ARK Alternative Education Provision specialises in delivering tailored learning experiences to empower learners to achieve their full potential. With a focus on individualised learning, holistic development, and well-being, we are dedicated to creating impactful learning journeys for all our learners.
Onsite Space
ARK is based on Malmo Road, Sutton Fields, Hull-just look for the arc shaped roof!
We have a fantastic, fit for purpose site with two spacious classrooms, smaller working spaces and self serving food area. We have ergonomically designed ARK for our learners, staff and visitors to feel safe, supported and ready to learn. The lay out is a strategic design to support academic and social progress. The ARK space supports personal development and peer interactions and our kitchen area allows adults and learners to cook, bake and eat together-this is a super important part of the day to us.
The ARK Learning Day
Our on site learning provides a space for you to feel inspired, motivated and ready to learn! Our learning spaces are equipped with everything you will need, including spacious desk lay outs, comfortable seating, and interactive whiteboards create the perfect learning environment. All learners have access to a laptop and will be encouraged to use this, whilst also blending ARK learning with handwritten work and whole group discussions and debates.
A healthy body and mind is really important to us at ARK and is embedded in ARK's Curriculum Mapping. Healthy lifestyles are a key part of the ARK culture. Learners will be encouraged to cook and prepare meals and snacks with staff and independently throughout the day. The ergonomically designed learner kitchen area encourages personal development and life skills.
The ARK day begins at 9am and ends at 1:30pm, lesson and break times are designed to encourage brain breaks to get the very best productivity for ARK learners. The ARK Team encourage self reflection to create a sense of awareness around social, personal and academic progress.
Remote Learning
Learners might not be ready for onsite support yet, and that's OK! We have a steady start with our Remote Learning Package. English and Math's Sessions can be accessed remotely along with social projects. The ARK Team will get to know you in a virtual way, blended with a home visit or real life meet up and that way we can get to know what you need and how we can start your ARK journey together.
The ARK Team know what works well- ARK Math's, English and Well-being sessions can be accessed from a far to ignite a pasion for learning again. The ARK Team can combine real life topics with academic subjects, this way we keep up to date with the world around us and learn at the same time.
When you join us you will receive a Username and Password so you can access your assigned sessions and activities.
Logging on- 9:30am and again at 1:30pm to access support by Functional Skills Tutors who will support your learning and provide you with feedback.
Tutors can be accessed at any time throughout the session and can be accessed via email or phone.
Who We Are...
Meet The Ark Team :)
Director of Operations and Learning-Allison has worked in the education world for a million years...not quite...she is not that old I hear her say!
Allison has dedicated the last 15 years to teaching young people and adults in a range of areas from Math's to First Aid to Knife Crime Projects.
Outside of work you will see her being a busy Mum of four and dedicating her time to providing Physiotherapy on the rugby field...please feel free to make her a cup of fruit tea!
Allison's super skill is LISTENING and she consistently applies her range of experience, knowledge and skills. Allison does not just educate us, she inspires and motivates us too.
Director of Communication and Learning-Kay has also worked in the education world and with young people for many years and is passionate about making positive change. Kay has twin sons who are now all grown up!
Kay has worked in roles within Pastoral Care, and Safeguarding in various settings. She loves applying theory based knowledge to her work such as PACE and Counselling Skills to support learners in various settings.
Kay's super skill is POSITIVITY and sharing her thoughts about the power of fun. She will challenge you to a game of...anything!
Life Skills Tutor- Sharelle joined ARK in September 2024 as our Life Skills Tutor and the best chef ever!! Sharelle has four amazing children and is officially a Super Mum!! She is enthusiastic, caring and passionate about working with young people! If Sharelle isn't on the rugby team championing her eldest son she could be heard singing....beautifully...wherever she goes!! Sharelle's super power is KINDNESS, she has the ability to make anyone feel at ease.
Learning Lead-Dan has worked locally with young people since leaving School and University! Dan values education and learning-he is continuing his own learning, currently studying towards a Masters in Psychology. Dan loves football and coaching, has some amazing and random facts about life and is passionate about making positive changes in the world of education. Dan is a new addition to Team ARK and we can't wait to have him onboard.
Lifeskills Lead-Ann has worked in Educational settings for over 30 years! Yes-she doesn't look a day over 21! Ann has dedicated her whole working life to nurturing young people and offering kindness and care to support them to be the best version of themselves. Ann is fun, passionate and super excited to see learners grow and thrive at ARK.
Learning Support-Elliot joined ARK in September but is a familiar face at ARK, having volunteered last year, we are pleased to announce Elliot will be joining us at the end of September 2025 as a permanent team member. Elliot has shown a great passion for supporting young people and has achieved so much in his own learning journey, he is a keen and an inspirational to all! ARK are proud to say how much we value and believe in Elliot in many ways. ARK are Elliot's sponsors in his Hull FC career...I will let him tell you more when you meet him!
Our ARK Community doesn't stop there-we have past parents and learners who volunteer to come back and support us, they can offer Peer Mentoring and Real Life experiences too.
